Australiens Internetzensur, gerichtet gegen Kinderpornografie, gerät außer Kontrolle

Aussie censors implement six degrees of separation policy: Links to links now banned (The Register)

Und zensiert wurde ausgerechnet die Electronic Frontiers Australia (EFA), eine Bürgerrechtsorganisation. Grund: Die EFA hatte in ihrer Dokumentation der australischen Internetzensur einen Link auf eine Seite gesetzt, die wiederum auf eine Webseite von Abreibungsgegnern verlinkte, auf der wiederum Fotos von abgetriebenen Föten zu sehen waren. Diese Fotos waren wohl das eigentliche Ziel der australischen Zensoren. Und das, obwohl auch diese Fotos nichts mit Kinderpornografie zu tun hatten. Kinderpornografie ist auch in Australien offiziell der einzige Grund, warum das Internet gefiltert werden soll.

Der Kommentar der EFA dazu:

"This demonstrates not only that the blacklist targets a wider range of material than child abuse (where the Minister’s rhetoric has been focused) but also that the lines between art, obscenity and political speech are not as bright and clear as politicians would have us imagine... Viewing or possession [of] RC content is not in itself illegal unless the content falls afoul of some other statute, such as those governing child-abuse material". [...]

"Despite the Minster’s (ridiculous) assertions that he means well and we should take it on faith that the filter will be effective and benign, this latest episode demonstrates how serious run-ins with the censors can be, that it does not only happen to purveyors of the ‘filth’ politicians rail against. These sorts of incidents will multiply as mandatory filtering is introduced, more controversial content is prohibited, and mirroring, linking and circumvention become common." Aber so ist das halt mit nicht funktionierender Internetfilterung: Da müssen dann auch die Links auf die Links auf Links zum zu filternden Material verboten werden und da werden dann mal eben als Kollateralschaden auch klar politisch ausgerichtete Webseiten zensiert.

Mal sehen, wann "The Register" nun von der australischen Regierung zensiert wird.

Das ist alles so abstrus und lächerlich und gefährlich, was derzeit in den westlichen Demokratien passiert, man fasst es nicht.
